When WordPress Isn't the Right Foundation
WordPress is excellent for content-driven websites. It’s less suited to projects where the core of the product is logic and data: a catalog with its own structure, a configurator with rules, a customer area, an internal tool, or a system that has to talk to other software.
That’s where Laravel Development fits. Laravel gives a project a proper application structure: routing, a database layer, authentication, queues, and an architecture that stays maintainable as requirements grow. Instead of bending a CMS into shape, the system is built around what the business actually does.
What to Build With Laravel
Custom web applications
Systems built around a specific workflow: dashboards, portals, booking or order management, internal tools.
Product catalogs and configurators
Data-heavy structures that don’t fit a standard e-commerce product model, including made-to-order experiences with rules and options.
Customer areas and account systems
Login, roles, permissions, and personalized content.
APIs and integrations
Connecting your system with payment providers, CRMs, ERPs, and other platforms.
Admin panels
Interfaces your team can use to manage complex data without touching code.
Laravel Alongside WordPress
Many projects don’t need to choose one or the other. A common approach on my projects is to keep WordPress for what it does best, pages and content that are easy to edit, and use Laravel for the part that needs real application logic.
This is how the Walter Steiger project was built: WordPress and WooCommerce for the storefront, Laravel-based functionality for the made-to-order footwear experience. If your project has a content side and a logic side, this split often gives a better result than forcing everything into one platform.
For the WordPress side, see WordPress Development →
My Approach
01
Understand the workflow first
Before any code, I map what the system needs to do and who uses it.
02
Build only what's needed
A focused first version that solves the real problem, with a structure that allows growth.
03
Clean, documented code
So the project can be maintained or continued by another developer if needed.
04
Tested before launch
Forms, integrations, permissions, and edge cases are checked on real devices and scenarios.
Is Laravel the Right Choice?
Laravel is a good fit if:
- Your project is more application than website
- Your data doesn't fit a standard CMS or WooCommerce structure
- You need user accounts, roles, or a customer portal
- You need to integrate with external systems through APIs
- You expect the system to grow in complexity over time
If your project is mainly content and marketing pages, WordPress is usually the simpler and more cost-effective option. I’ll tell you honestly which one fits.
FAQs
For more questions contact me:
What is Laravel used for?
Laravel is a PHP framework for building custom web applications: portals, catalogs, dashboards, APIs, and business systems that need more structure than a CMS provides.
Should I choose Laravel or WordPress?
WordPress suits content-driven sites that need easy editing. Laravel suits projects built around custom logic and data. Many projects combine both.
Can Laravel be integrated with WordPress or WooCommerce?
Yes. A Laravel application can run alongside a WordPress site and exchange data with it, as in the Walter Steiger project.
Can you build an admin panel for my team?
Yes. Admin interfaces for managing products, orders, users, or any custom data are a common part of Laravel projects.
Can you take over an existing Laravel project?
Yes. I can review the codebase and continue development, though scope depends on its current state.
How long does a Laravel project take and what does it cost?
It depends on scope and complexity. Usually, such projects start at minimum of €2000 but after a discovery call I can give a project-specific estimate.
Do you offer hosting and deployment help?
Yes
